Chromebook Handbook

The board of education approved the 2019-2020 chromebook handbook.

Website and Online Communications

The board of education approved using School Messenger for website, mass notification and mobile app services in the amount of $32,050.

Proposed Textbook Adoptions

Linn Exline, executive director of school improvement, reviewed and evaluated the following textbooks: (1) Earth & Space Science, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) (2018); (2) Marketing 4e, Southwestern Cengage Learning Publishing (2016); (3) Financial Algebra: Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications, 2nd ed., Cengage (2018); (4) Code Blue: A Tale of Compassion, Power, and Politics, Health Science Edition 5 by Richard E. Handbook Approvals

Shanna Rector, executive director of administrative student support services, presented the 2019-2020 elementary, middle and high school handbooks for review. This will be brought back to the April 23, 2019 meeting for approval.

Dr. James Hardy, superintendent, presented the 2019-2020 athletic handbook for review. This will be brought back to the April 23, 2019 meeting for approval.

Superintendent's Report

Dr. James Hardy, superintendent of schools, attended Governor Kelly's Salina Town Hall meeting. He shared that Greg Maring, Central High School athletic director, was named District Athletic Director by the Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. Dr. Hardy shared that Lesa Larson, Heartland Early Education director, was named Kansas Administrator of 2019 by the Kansas Head Start Association. Dr. Hardy attended the Kansas Master Teacher banquet and award ceremony where Carolynn Phalen, Stewart Elementary teacher, was honored. Dr. Hardy thanked Tim Rogers, executive director for the Salina Airport Authority, for presenting to the district leadership team. Dr. Hardy attended the Central High School senior art exhibit at the Salina Public Library.
