The board of education approved the following encumbrance: (1) Blackboard, Inc., $45,457.29, annual renewal for maintenance, upgrade and support for the web publishing systems.

HVAC Repair with Knipp Services-Kansas Trane

The board of education allowed the operations department the authority to issue an open purchase order to Knipp Services in the amount of $35,000 to be used to debit the ongoing FY19 charges for the company’s service of HVAC equipment.

HVAC Technical Support with Building Controls and Services (BCS)

The board of education allowed the operations department the authority to issue an open purchase order to Building Controls and Services in the amount of $60,000 to be used to debit the ongoing FY19 charges for the company’s maintenance of HVAC equipment.

Heartland Early Education Gift Request

The board of education approved the Heartland Early Education gift request from the Federal Head Start program.

Out-of-State Field Trip

The board of education approved the Central High Thespian’s trip to Lincoln, NE on June 24 through June 30, 2019. Students will participate in the International Thespian Festival and have an opportunity to take classes, watch shows, and audition for colleges.

18-19 Handbook for Certified Teachers (Retired Educators)

The board of education approved the 2018-2019 handbook for certified staff (retired educators).

Salina Area Technical College Lease and Security Agreement

The board of education approved the extension of the lease agreement with SATC and other accompanying amendments to that agreement.

Superintendent's Report

Dr. James Hardy, superintendent of schools, thanked the board members who attended the KASB Boardmanship Workshop. He attended the SHSS Ribbon Cutting/Open House and reported Kansas educators salary facts. Dr. Hardy reported that education officials at the state level have been crafting priorities for the 2019 legislative session. Dr. Hardy informed the board that he spoke to students at Stewart Elementary School about the theme, “be kind.”
