Recognitions/Presentations

Renaissance Teachers of the Month

Certificates were presented to secondary teachers honored as Renaissance Teachers of the Month from September 2022 through December 2022. Teachers included Stephanie Johannes, Tony Slothower, Traci Pfeifer, and Ryan Holmquist, Central High School; Janeen Feil, Brian Nowak, Cindy Bray, and Anne Berry, Lakewood Middle School; Joseph Turner, Ryan Schafer, Carie VanDeCreek and Juan Maldonado, South High School; and Miranda Lumley, Matt Gerry, Brooke Jennings and Bianca Adams, South Middle School.

Graduation Requirements

Curtis Stevens, director of secondary programs, presented the new graduation requirements from the Kansas State Department of Education.

 

School Board Reports

  • Mark Bandré, board member, attended a Smoky Hill Education Service Center Executive Cabinet meeting.
  • Scott Gardner, board member, attended a wrestling tournament at South High School.
  • Ann Zimmerman, president, attended a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, the Salina Chamber of Commerce Legislative Reception and spoke to Lakewood Middle School sixth grade classes about restorative justice.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, participated in a state superintendent evaluation committee and attended the Salina Chamber of Commerce Legislative Roundtable and Reception. On Wednesday, January 11, she hosts a SPS Staff Chat with members of the maintenance and operations department as well as a community SPS Chat at Heartland Early Education on Thursday, January 12.
