Salina Public Schools (SPS) values its great staff and recognizes their contributions that make SPS the best place to learn and work. Because of this, employees could receive up to $1,500 retention incentive pay during school year 2022-2023. Employees* who are with the district the entire school year receive the full $1,500.
Certified teachers, retired certified teachers, Head Start teachers and administrators receive a one-time annual payment in November. Support staff and professional/technical staff receive payments according to the schedule below.
*Eligible staff who work less than 50% of the day will receive 50% of the pay distributed. Staff who work 50% of the day or more will receive 100% of the pay distributed. Temporary, seasonal or on-call staff are not eligible.
In addition, SPS is recognizing substitute workers. All certified and classified substitutes who work a total of 200 hours each per semester will receive a retention incentive payment of $250 at the end of that semester. To qualify:
- hours must be worked,
- any combination of classified, certified or nursing substitute hours may be used, and
- hours will be calculated as of the last student contact day of each semester.
Payments will be made on the next regular substitute pay date in the month following the last student contact day of the semester.
