The Kansas Department of Education has named Cottonwood Elementary and Lakewood Middle schools as recipients of the 2023 Challenge Awards. Certificates were presented to the schools at the May 14 Board of Education meeting.
“Our dedicated staff’s work to build a culture of excellence is the support that makes this possible,” said Superintendent Linn Exline. “Their commitment to meet the diverse needs of our students and offer exceptional educational opportunities is recognized with these well-deserved awards.”
Challenge Awards recognize schools for outstanding achievements and uncommon accomplishments based on Kansas math and reading assessment results. The awards recognize Kansas schools that are improving student academic performance and narrowing the gap between subgroups.
