Thanks to a new, Work-Based Learning Program through Great Plains Manufacturing (GPM), junior and senior industrial arts students from Salina Public Schools (SPS) are working at GPM’s Salina facility. They are earning hourly pay, high school credits and learning industry skills simultaneously.
And, upon successful completion of the program and graduation from high school, students will be offered a full-time position at GPM. The on-the-job training and pay helps students stay engaged in school, while GPM supports company growth.
The GPM program is expected to continue into the 2024 fall semester. Another great example of the advantages resulting from the strong connection between SPS and community partners.
