General Information

Preschool in Every Salina Elementary

Children who turned 3 or 4 years old by August 31, 2023 are eligible to apply. Please call Heartland Early Education to set up an appointment: 785-309-5000.

School Hours

Elementary Schedule (Grades K-5):
8:30 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.

Middle School Schedule (Grades 6-8):
7:45 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.

High School Schedule  (Grades 9-12):
7:45 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.

School Meal Program 2023-2024: 

Free and reduced-price meal applications are available during online enrollment and will determine if a student is eligible. 
  • Student meal cards will be required. New cards will be issued, but last year’s card can also be used as a back-up.
  • The purchase of á la carte items will be on a cash only basis.
  • Adult meals can be purchased by cash or check.

Transportation 

By state law, students who live 2.5 miles or more from school are eligible for transportation. Some additional transportation is available in qualifying areas. For more information, check with your school.

Immunizations for 2023-2024 School Year

The Kansas School Immunization Law requires every student enrolling in Kansas schools to present verification signed by a physician or local health department.

Textbook Fees 

Grades Kindergarten (K)-8, $60.00
Grades 9-12, $100.00

Fees are scaled for students qualifying for reduced/free lunches
Grades K-8, $30 / $0
Grades 9-12, $50 / $0
Textbook fees can be paid during the enrollment.

Special Education Services

USD 305 offers a full range of special education services. If you believe your child may be eligible for these services, please contact your school’s principal. Parents whose children, ages 3-5, have a disability may call 309-5100 for information about preschool services.

Middle & High School Boundary Lines

Students who reside in Cottonwood, Heusner, Meadowlark and Oakdale attendance areas will attend Lakewood Middle School and Central High School. Students who reside in Coronado, Schilling, Stewart and Sunset attendance areas will attend South Middle School and South High School. 

Heartland Early Education

Enrollment for Early Head Start/Head Start and Preschool-Aged At-Risk is ongoing. Please call 309-5000.

Salina Adult Education Center (SAEC)

This program provides adult basic education, English as a second language support, GED® preparation and testing as well as college skill building for people 16 or older and out of school. SAEC operates a diploma completion program for adults to meet requirements and earn a Central or South high school diploma. An intensive employment course called Partners 4 Success was developed by SAEC and is run in collaboration with Salina area agencies and employers. For more information call 309-4660.
