Horizon Teachers Announced
Posted on 09/08/2023

Josh Rubino, English teacher at Central High School, and Camdyn Schreiber, fourth grade teacher at Sunset, have been selected as Horizon Teachers for Salina Public Schools.

The Kansas Horizon Award program recognizes representatives of excellent teaching in elementary and secondary classrooms across the state. First-year teachers who perform in a way that distinguishes them as outstanding are eligible. Both Camdyn and Josh will advance to the state-level competition.

Each in their second year of teaching, their many talents make them excellent candidates for Horizon Teachers. Central’s Josh Rubino uses many different teaching strategies, creates a learning environment that incorporates acceptance and belonging and has a passion for his content that inspires his students. Sunset’s Camdyn Schreiber’s instruction and class management can be characterized as calm, creative and collaborative with relationships that are built from the heart.

Next steps for Josh and Camdyn include completing applications that will be reviewed at the state level, along with other districts’ candidates, for a final selection of Kansas Horizon Teachers. Congratulations to Camdyn Schreiber and Josh Rubino!
