Election of the Board President

The board elected Ann Zimmerman to serve as president for the 2022-2023 School Year.

 

Election of the Board Vice President

The board elected Jim Fletcher to serve as vice president for the 2022-2023 School Year.

2022-2023 Salary and Work Conditions for Certified Staff

The board approved changes to the salary and work conditions for certified staff including the addition of $700 to the base of the certified salary schedule and single step movement pending NEA-Salina ratification of the agreement.

 

2022-2023 Salaries and Benefits for Classified, Professional/Technical and Substitutes

The board approved changes to the salary and work conditions for classified staff, which includes administrative personnel, education office personnel, instructional support staff, maintenance & operations, and food service staff.  The changes include a 1.7% increase to the base salary, along with step movement as allowed under the salary schedules.

 

2022-2023 Salaries and Benefits for Administrators

The board approved a 1.7% increase to the base salary, along with step movement as allowed under the salary schedules.

 

2022-2023 Handbook for Retired Certified Teachers (Retired Educators)

The board approved changes to the Retired Certified Teachers Handbook. 

 

Board Policy

The board approved policy revisions for Budget Planning, Annual Operating Budget, Purchasing Authority, Student Privacy Policy, Textbooks & Instructional Materials and Media Centers, Performance-Based Credita, Enrollment, Truancy, Bullying, Health Screenings, Transportation and District or School Websites.

Ginna Wallace, RSP & Associates Planner, shared the results of the USD 305 enrollment analysis.

  • Mark Bandré, board member, delivered a You Make a Difference Award and attended the Salina Education Foundation meetings, the Smoky Hill Education Service Center Executive Cabinet meeting and the board retreat.
  • Scott Gardner, board member, attended the board retreat and the Salina Adult Education Center’s (SAEC) graduation.

Superintendent’s Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, reported that she will be hosting a conversation with community members titled, SPS Chat. The first will be scheduled in September and will focus on the strategic plan and belonging. Superintendent Exline is also scheduling meetings throughout the year with school staff. She reported that online enrollment opens July 13 and thanked Laine Norris, director of food and nutrition services, and Michelle Forney, senior systems analyst, for their work to make enrollment as easy as possible for families. Superintendent Exline thanked Shanna Rector, deputy superintendent, and her team for their work to ensure families with students new to the district can also enroll online. Superintendent Exline reported that walk-in enrollment will be on July 26 from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Central High School. She pointed out that families coming to enroll will enter the doors on Crawford Street. Superintendent Exline acknowledged the Emerging Leaders program Kris Upson, executive director of operations, has created for his employees.
